Disney Wonder Cruise Ship Review Photos & Departure Ports
Table Of Content
As far as lines, the longer cruises have characters that just walk around the ship and there aren't usually lines for them. Also, when your kids are in the camps, the characters go in and play with them which makes it much more personal than Disney World. Helping Peter Pan find his shadow, hula dancing with Stitch, or learning to be a super hero with Captain America.

If you enjoy fine dining, book a fancy dinner at one of the adults-only restaurants. Depending on which ship you are on, there will be one or two restaurants that are reserved for adults — Palo and perhaps also Remy or Enchante. Concierge-level rooms do not come cheap, but they're the way to go if you want cream-of-the-crop service on a Disney cruise.
Entertainment and activities on a Disney cruise
However, none of these spaces were fully my cup of tea, mainly because they were dark and not super inviting. The best $45 you can spend onboard a Disney cruise, to me, is unquestionably a meal at Palo. All original four Disney ships have a version of Animator's Palate, though it varies a bit on each ship.

Embarkation ports like New Orleans Galveston attract a big drive-to market, so you'll find lots of people from the Midwest and Southern United States. Alaska cruises attract a tad older demographic, including couples traveling without children, but they're still heavy on the multi-gen groups. Don't be surprised to find yourself unexpectedly moved by some of the magical moments onboard -- unexpected little touches that Disney fans refer to as "pixie dust".

Restaurants
In addition to the buffet, a few grab-and-go quick-service restaurants on the pool deck serve salads, chili, pizza, barbecue and more, depending on which ship you're sailing. These can be made for you starting 120 days before your sailing, which is before all other guests except those with the highest elite status tier in the Castaway Club. You also have your own check-in area at the port and are among the first to board the ship, which can mean extra time to enjoy having the waterslides to yourself. At the end of the cruise, you can have a private elevator that takes you down to be some of the first off the ship — which should protect you from a long line to say goodbye. You'll see many families with kids in those preschool, elementary and middle school years.

The 'Frozen' deck show isn't a must-do But the stage show is a must-see
Disney typically offers at least one and sometimes several cruises to Bermuda each fall, ranging from quick, five-night trips to longer, eight-night sailings. Throughout the cruise, passengers rotate through three complimentary dining venues, and your serving team joins you in the different restaurants each night. Other dining options include the extra-fee, adults-only restaurant, Disney Cruise Line's dedicated Italian restaurant. Passengers can choose either early or late-seating, and are assigned a designated table for dinner each evening. It's a throwback to how dining used to be on cruise ships, and allows passengers and wait staff to truly get to know each other throughout the voyage. Disney cruise ships offer two dinner options — early or late seating.
Guests wishing to consume wine or Champagne that they have brought on board in one of the dining rooms will be charged a corkage fee of $26 per bottle. If you are on a ship that still charges by the amount of data used, we recommend not doing that and connecting either when you are in port or via a plan from your cellphone provider. If you are on a ship that charges by day instead of by the amount of data used, expect the prices to vary from $12-$36 per day, depending on the speed you select.
If you are interested in gaming, both cruise lines offer bingo. However, the Disney Cruise Line ships do not offer casinos, while the Royal Caribbean ships do. Both cruise lines have plenty of activities to keep you busy while you are at sea. The activities that you’ll experience on these lines vary, however. Both cruise lines offer complimentary basic beverages, including tap water, coffee and tea (excluding premium coffee), and standard juices. Other beverages are available a la carte, and each cruise line has different beverage purchase options.
It's all very upscale for a very modest price, though some a 'la carte dinner selections can really ring the bill up quickly. The bright-yellow Mickey's Pool Slide and Splash Zone are perfect for the little ones (and, let's face it, adults love the waterslide too). You'll find many character meet-and-greets on the itinerary for each day where it's known that Mickey, Donald or Minnie will be at a specific place at a specific time for a brief hello and a photo. Those meetups are great, but they are not the best character interactions you'll find on Disney Cruise Line.
All of the cruise ship entertainment that I’ve seen on both cruise lines has always been top-notch. Disney Cruise Line offers Broadway-style musicals in the Walt Disney Theater. On longer sailings, there are often other entertainers, like magicians and ventriloquists, who perform there. Another reason to consider going through a travel agent is to get onboard credit. Some travel agents will offer onboard credit based on the amount you spend on your Disney cruise. This is credit you can use toward drinks, spa treatments, excursions or anything else you can charge to your room.
The adult pool area was my personal favorite of the three pools, though it's not nearly as cool looking as the infinity pool on Disney Wish. Disney Magic has a lot of strengths, but the pools are pretty basic. I tried it once, and that was enough for me to say I've done it. The Twist 'n' Spout slide by the AquaLab was the favorite spot for my 7-year-old. Disney Magic debuted the cruise line's rotational dining system, which is unique in the cruise industry.
Passports, when required, must be valid for at least six months. Note that it is important that the name on your reservation be exactly as it is stated on your passport or other official proof of nationality. The specific documents you will need will vary by cruise destination. Having a passport is always a good idea, but it's not technically required on all Disney cruises. For example, round-trip cruises originating in Port Canaveral, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Galveston, San Diego, New Orleans, New York and San Juan, Puerto Rico, often do not require a passport. On Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, the teen club has its own set of small pools at the front of the ship.
If you order a can of Coke in the dining room or from room service, it's going to cost you a few dollars, but you can get as much free soda as you want from the fountain. These are usually located on the pool deck and in the buffet area. Bring a refillable bottle so you can easily take your soda with you around the ship. The Disney Visa Card also offers some onboard savings perks and you can enjoy 0% APR for six months on your Disney vacation packages from the date of purchase, after that a variable APR of 19.24%-28.24%. Even with its updates, the Disney Magic cruise ship retains a sense of tradition. Like its fleetmates, the vessel sports a nostalgic ocean liner appearance with a navy-blue hull and red funnels (customized with Mickeys, of course).
